Close the Digital Divide
Fund School Broadband Access On-Site
With the release of the ARP ESSER funding, state chiefs and SEAs are seeking strong and comprehensive data monitoring strategies to track both the allocation of resources and the impact generated.
Digital tools, like the fictionalized example shown, can visualize, analyze, and organize data to track the resources invested and help communicate impact and progress.
The Metrics Map can organize metrics for a given intervention (or multiple interventions) by answering the following questions:
- Interventions: Where did SEAs allocate resources?
- Investments: What did SEAs spend or provide?
- Results of investment: Did the investment help? Consequence?
- Outcomes: How will SEAs track progress moving forward?
With visualizations for each metric, SEAs can display selected disaggregated data, which can provide compelling insights and support when communicating the impact of relief fund spending. In the example above, the metric for “Money spent on school internet access per student” is disaggregated by rural and urban communities.
An assessment framework, such as a color-coding system, can help SEAs set targets, capture progress, or focus on potential areas of improvement in a concise and engaging manner. In this example, the “Amount spent per student” is color coded to identify which school years had adequate funds devoted to school internet access per student. This level of information can help guide future decisions.
